My ideal future

Image
As an architecture student people used to think that I've entered the career so that way I can become a great designer or build things, that cannot be more mistaken. When I first entered the career in 2015 I choose architecture as my second preference, the first one was music theory, a career that I declined in the end just because I didn't wanted to spend a lifetime teaching in schools when my goal was (and to some point still is) become a composser but, even when architecture is not really my favourite thing, I've learned new ways to approach the career such as the urban planning; a great way to mix my interest in social sciences and the city development, something that allows me to mix elements from other areas like anthropology or sociology into my area. With all that being said, as anyone can see I'm more an office man than an outdoor one, so if it's jobs what we're talking about I'd pick any day of the week an office one where I can express myse...

Climatic change

The planet is in danger, that's something that everyone should know and it's probably that way. By this moment, there's little to no people who can denied that our planet has suffered desolating consecuences caused by our irresponsability and greed. In that way, our country, Chile, is one of the most affected ones in the continent. Chile has been almost since it's been an independent country renowned as a mining country in the global sphere, with the country being hugely dependant of it's extractive places as the sole foundation of our economy that meaning also, ironically, that our ecology has been hugely damaged by that, with the leftovers of the industry destroying our environment, furthermore, our climate has changed so much that our city, Santiago, in some few years more is said to get the same climate that now we can see at the 4th region of our country. We're still at time to prevent this to happen, but this isn't dependant of ourselfs, the h...

Paranormal experience

Image
I don't like to talk about paranormal experiences since I don't really believe in them, but even from the position of someone who doesn't think of paranormal things as a reality there's somethings that doesn't really makes sense, and as an example for that I'll use a story from 8 years ago. I spend my highschool years at a school that during the period of time the country was under a dictatorship, used to be a prison or torture place, and as every place who held such horrible acts it did have vestiges of that terrible past. More specifically, in the third floor roof from the lowest building of the school, there was a place where we used to play football, and there were also two really weird rooms. That rooms didn't have windows, neither doors, and the ceilling was blocked. Every opening a regular room should have, there was blocked by concrete to prevent the access to everyone. One day, an inspector from the school told us that those rooms where torture...

The best concert

Image
It was 2015 and I was in my first year at the university, more specifically at Universidad de Santiago de Chile, and even when I didn't like the university at all, it was a really important year in my life as I was able to assist to the show of one of the most important bands in my life, Explosions in the Sky at Primavera Fauna festival. It was in november and I didn't think I'd be able to go since I didn't have the money for the ticket, but one day my sister came back home and she called me to her room "here's your ticket, go and enjoy yourself with that band you love so much", it was the better present I've ever get and I couldn't be more happy. Explosions in the sky is a really important band for me since it was the band who made me know about the existence of post-rock, a musical genre mostly based on the melodic use of standard rock instruments to play music mostly ambiental and with disruptives structures, and also the genre that mad...

A country I would like to visit

Image
While there's a lot of places I'd really like to visit someday, there's a country, and more specifically, a city that I'd really like to go. That city is Kyoto, the old Japanese capital. Kyoto was for a very long time the capital of Japan, and because of that, it has one of the richest cultural heritage in the country, being the religious and cultural capital of the country. Besides that, as an architecture student Kyoto's particulary interesting because of it's urban design and harmonious coexistence between the old imperial architecture and the contemporary one, who merges into a really interesting place to visit. Also, the way the japaneses preserves their material patrimony is something that I think as chileans we should learn from, since we share the same problems in sismic damage to our buildings, but even when we share that, the way we approach it it's really different. While they make huge investments in the preservation and restoration of t...
