Changes to my study programme

Image
I've entered this University in 2016, and that means that I'm part of the first generation of the new study program of the career, in my case architecture. The new program it's said to be created thinking to help us have more time for ourselves than in the previous program but it was implemented so badly that it didn’t end that way. The new program is built in a way that if you failed a class, it becomes an inevitable burden for the rest of your career, delaying even other classes that hasn’t any kind of relationship with the one you’ve failed, for example, I’m delayed in structures and because of that I’ve been a whole year without an urbanism class, that definitely doesn’t make sense, and that’s only one of the problems the new program has. All these obstacles that the new program puts you, in my opinion are deliberately done. If we stay more time at university, it means more money for said university, and even when ours likes to call itself as “inclusive” it’s nothin...

Holidays

Image
For the last 10 years of my life, as far as I could remember, there was only two summers where I've have holidays like the rest of the people (from december to march). I've studied since my childhood in the public sistem so strikes and riots are, by now, a common part of my life. Due this situation, I'm relatively acostumed to spend my holidays chilling out and trying to get around with people I'm not able to be with as much as I'd like during the year like all my school friends who also studies in this university but in others facultyes like FACSO and FilosofĂa y Humanidades, but this year I think I'll spend my holidays working in something to get some money since I need to buy some things I'm laking now and are necessary for my academics and personals needings. The matter of discussion now centers around what will be my income source for this. I'm thinking on working harder making sketchbooks, who's been my principal way to make money during the...

Free topic: abortion

Since the military dictatorship that our country suffered for 17 years our moral and ethical view points have changed towards a really conservative perspective. As a result from that, there's a lot of people that this late in the 21th century still believes a cells group is a human life and that abortion is killing. For me it's hard to understand the conservative's perspective since from a biological view point, the so-called baby that you'd be killing by choosing for abortion it's nothing more than that, a cells group, without nervous system those cells can't even feel pain, even less think by themselves and without a conciousness for me it's hard to think of something as human. I think that what determines us as human beings is our consciousness, even more than our biological species, and as that, for me an IA Robot or computer deserves to be called a human being a lot more than a baby who's not developed it's nervous system. Apart from that...

My ideal future

Image
As an architecture student people used to think that I've entered the career so that way I can become a great designer or build things, that cannot be more mistaken. When I first entered the career in 2015 I choose architecture as my second preference, the first one was music theory, a career that I declined in the end just because I didn't wanted to spend a lifetime teaching in schools when my goal was (and to some point still is) become a composser but, even when architecture is not really my favourite thing, I've learned new ways to approach the career such as the urban planning; a great way to mix my interest in social sciences and the city development, something that allows me to mix elements from other areas like anthropology or sociology into my area. With all that being said, as anyone can see I'm more an office man than an outdoor one, so if it's jobs what we're talking about I'd pick any day of the week an office one where I can express myse...

Climatic change

The planet is in danger, that's something that everyone should know and it's probably that way. By this moment, there's little to no people who can denied that our planet has suffered desolating consecuences caused by our irresponsability and greed. In that way, our country, Chile, is one of the most affected ones in the continent. Chile has been almost since it's been an independent country renowned as a mining country in the global sphere, with the country being hugely dependant of it's extractive places as the sole foundation of our economy that meaning also, ironically, that our ecology has been hugely damaged by that, with the leftovers of the industry destroying our environment, furthermore, our climate has changed so much that our city, Santiago, in some few years more is said to get the same climate that now we can see at the 4th region of our country. We're still at time to prevent this to happen, but this isn't dependant of ourselfs, the h...

Paranormal experience

Image
I don't like to talk about paranormal experiences since I don't really believe in them, but even from the position of someone who doesn't think of paranormal things as a reality there's somethings that doesn't really makes sense, and as an example for that I'll use a story from 8 years ago. I spend my highschool years at a school that during the period of time the country was under a dictatorship, used to be a prison or torture place, and as every place who held such horrible acts it did have vestiges of that terrible past. More specifically, in the third floor roof from the lowest building of the school, there was a place where we used to play football, and there were also two really weird rooms. That rooms didn't have windows, neither doors, and the ceilling was blocked. Every opening a regular room should have, there was blocked by concrete to prevent the access to everyone. One day, an inspector from the school told us that those rooms where torture...

The best concert

It was 2015 and I was in my first year at the university, more specifically at Universidad de Santiago de Chile, and even when I didn't like the university at all, it was a really important year in my life as I was able to assist to the show of one of the most important bands in my life, Explosions in the Sky at Primavera Fauna festival. It was in november and I didn't think I'd be able to go since I didn't have the money for the ticket, but one day my sister came back home and she called me to her room "here's your ticket, go and enjoy yourself with that band you love so much", it was the better present I've ever get and I couldn't be more happy. Explosions in the sky is a really important band for me since it was the band who made me know about the existence of post-rock, a musical genre mostly based on the melodic use of standard rock instruments to play music mostly ambiental and with disruptives structures, and also the genre that mad...
